Update: The Community was Instrumental in sending in letters and showing up at the City Council Meeting on August 22, 2022 to Voice their Concerns. A formal vote by the City Council to discontinue the Roundabout project was approved on September 27 2022.
Imagine a 2-lane roundabout with excessive dusk-to-dawn commercial lighting and signage located in our City Center!
This is a major departure from PVE’s “dark skies” and Olmsted’s bucolic design.

15 Magnificent Trees that line our City Center to be removed in order to accommodate the 2-lane roundabout. Plus, dozens of additional trees will also be elimated to make room for lost parking in Malaga Cove Plaza as a result of constructing the roundabout.
The Majority of PVE residents oppose a 2-lane roundabout.
Nearly 500 PVE residents participated in a Poll and a Malaga Cove Homeowners Association Survey regarding their preferred alternative for improving traffic flow during rush hour. A majority 83% of PVE residents support either “doing nothing” or adding a “vintage traffic signal” while only 17.2% of residents support a 2-lane roundabout.
Progress is great, but nature is too. We must find the right balance.

THE PETITION
Place the construction of the Roundabout ON HOLD and DO NOT accept the Metro grant money in Sept.
COMPLETE a more thorough Analysis of Alternatives such as: a) “Do Nothing” with AM/PM traffic directors and improved pedestrian safety or; b) “Install a “Vintage Traffic Signal” that is optimized for traffic flow during rush hour traffic and DOES NOT widen the roadway.
INCREASE communications and outreach of this project with the PVE community.
BASE THE DECISION on an Advisory Vote of the people on the November ballot.
